Pushcart is over the moon to have collaborated with New Synagogue Project for our first stop on the Pop Up tour at City State Brewery. Come grab a drink, check out some amazing Jewish art and ritual objects in a beautiful covid safe open air market! Including the entire Pushcart Judaica store with pieces from artists around the country.

For this market we drew inspiration from local history. The "PCJ" logo in the poster draws inspiration from "DGS", District Grocery Stores, a cooperative of Jewish-owned small grocery stores in Washington, DC, Maryland and Northern Virginia operating from 1921 to 1972. DGS was a cornerstone of the local Jewish economy. Each store was one room, with the family/owners usually living behind or upstairs. Many owners had immigrated fresh from Europe and only spoke Yiddish, learning english by chatting with customers and reading food labels. (source: wiki) Many thanks to our sponsors Jews United For Justice, Bet Mishpachah, IfNotNow DC, Fabrangen.
