This year Temple Israel hosted an Old World Market coordinated by Ollie Schwartz of Pushcart Judaica. Like in the times of our ancestors before us, we’ll gather and gossip, play and pretend amongst our neighbors and community. There will be arts vendors, tarot reading, music buskers, and food vendors including knishes and hamantaschen (including gluten-free options!). Kids activities will include making hamantaschen and masks for the shpiel. Vegetarian soup and hamantaschen will be available for everyone to enjoy.
Market vendors include:
- Ezra Rose – illustrator, zinester and multi-disciplinary artist online at www.ezra-rose.com
- Mudd Being - ceramic Judaica by io a-c on instagram @budd.being
- Peggy Davis – printer, calligrapher and upcycled pieces online at http://www.ganeydn.com/
- Wax & Bones – Sam Gillogly works in paint, ink, fiber arts, papercut, and clay. Their creations can be found on Instagram at @wax_and_bones.
- Sol Weiss – prints, illustrations and graphic designs online at https://www.solweiss.com/
- Carol Silver – Great Aunt Emma’s Hot Pickled Peppers and jewelry
- Ampersand Apothecary – LB Moore‘s Herbal goodies: teas, seasoning blends, air sprays, herbal rice packs
After the market, join us in the sanctuary for a shpiel created by Rabbi Andrea followed by the megillah reading and klezmer music.
