As We Speak These Words is at once a subversive new Jewish prayer book, a contemporary illuminated manuscript and a spiritual/political call to action. Combining over 30 prayers and poems by Rabbi Brant Rosen with art and illustrations by Rabbi Lynn Gottlieb, this new collection is inspired by the radical movements throughout history that have mobilized prayerful artistic creativity in service of justice and liberation.
Echoing the cadence of a liberated world, this book can be used for personal
meditation, prayer services, protests and vigils - and any other setting that reflects the values and vision of a global beloved community.
R'Brant Rosen (he/him) A native of LA ordained by RRC. In 2014, he became the Midwest Regional Director of the American Friends Service Committee and in 2015, helped found Tzedek Chicago.
R'Lynn Gottlieb (she/her) is one of the first women to be ordained as a rabbi, a pioneer Jewish feminist, human rights activist, writer, visual artist, ceremonialist, community educator and master storyteller. Founder of Congregation Nahalat Shalom in Albuquerque, NM, in 1980. Lynn engages in multifaith, intergenerational and multicultural organizing in solidarity with racial, indigenous, gender justice and Palestinian liberation struggles.
