Lu Marie (they/them) of lulav.and.opossum, has been sewing for over 20 years, originally learning on a 1966 Manual Kenmore 158. Lu is passionate about environmentally conscious sewing, using only 100% natural plant based fibers or thrifted fabric, and hopes that the term “eco-shatnez” catches on one of these
days. In the last few years Lu has started to integrate sewing and making into Jewish practice and ritual, and is currently working on a 54 block “Parashah Quilt”, custom designing each block based on a Torah portion.
