Homeland: A Zine on Jewish Belonging

This zine, and its release come at a tender and devastating time for many of us. The world has changed so much since we first dreamt up and put out the call for this zine. Yet, perhaps this timing is also ripe. That in our deepest despair, we turn towards a dramatically different way of being and belonging on this earth and especially in relation to Israel/Palestine as Jewish people. That in our grief and brokenness, we continue to insist on our safety and belonging to land, but never in a way that interrupts anyone else's freedom or safety. 

Miknaf Ha'aretz are Jewish land-lovers, land-tenders and food growers, dedicated to building earth-based, radical-diasporist Jewish community in the UK through retreats, courses, youth camps (and more!). Connecting to land is part and parcel of our tradition and enables us to connect our community to ancestral practices through ritual, prayer, food growing, justice-work, feasting & festival celebration, all of which are rooted in the land and the cycles of the seasons.

We believe connection with and time on land is essential for Jewish healing, joy & liberation. And we believe land is fundamental to collective liberation - everyone needs connection to land in order to heal from the multiple oppressions and displacements that have resulted in unjust systems of land access. We are building solidarity across communities impacted by these systems and radically re-imagining land justice in the UK.
