“Opener of Doors,” mini zine written and illustrated by me, Beatrice Alder. The angel Mefathiel is traditionally regarded as the patron of thieves; this invocation takes a broader view of his potential role in crossing national and gender borders. I based the text on formulas from medieval Ashkenazi amulets.
